Panda Pied Ball Python is a combination of the co-dominant Black Pastel trait and the recessive Piebald trait. Also known as a “Super Black Pastel Piebald”, we consider this variety to be among the most stunning of Ball Python morphs. The intense black and white color combined with the pattern variability of the Piebald gene trait enables an unlimited number of unique Pandas.

Pied snake

There are several genetic combination pathways that can lead to producing a Panda Ball Python. The “Super” form of the Black Pastel Ball Python (Black Pastel x Black Pastel) is an all black Ball Python, and when this is combined with the Piebald trait, a Panda is born.

GENETIC PROBABILITY OUTCOMES:

Black Pastel Piebald pairing = one in four Pandas

Black Pastel Piebald x Black Pastel 100% heterozygous Piebald pairing = one in eight Pandas

Black Pastel 100% heterozygous Piebald x Black Pastel 100% heterozygous Piebald pairing = one in sixteen Pandas.

Pied ball pythons are a beautiful variant of the regular ball python. They maintain all of the best characteristics of the ball python— easy care, docile temperament, unfussy eaters— while also having stunning colors.

They also lack the health problems that many other morphs have, since their coloring is a result of a naturally occurring recessive trait. Combined with their other characteristics, they make a perfect choice for owners looking for a first morph.

These white patches are actuallyun-pigmented skin. They’re a result of arecessive trait and aren’t common among pythons in the wild, but are prized in captivity. As a result, piebald varieties have been specifically bred. There are even secondary morphs, such asbanana pied ball pythonsandpastel pied ball pythons.

I received an extraordinary gorgeous VPI axanthic ball python and my little guy is doing very well. He’s very shy and sweet and likes chin rubs like a kitten. My only concern was that he eats live hoppers and not frozen/thawed as I was hoping for. In saying that, he did not hesitate to eat a live hopper. All in all, I couldn’t ask for a better ball python. Thanks again reptilebase.com !

He’s very busy and seems healthy he ate a frozen thawed fuzzy rat last night so I’m not messing with him for two days but if you ever owned or held a corn snake you’d know that no matter how long you’ve owned them they just don’t want to stop moving we this black pastel ball python is just as busy and fast my other ball pythons move but they just kind of hang out and move very slowly this guy must have a sugar rush lol.
