Introducing The 2021 Chinook Summit Class B Motorhome

The new 2021 Chinook Summit Class B motorhome packs innovation, superior build, a fully functional layout, and signature rear entrance door into an impressive, compact design.

“The Summit may look like a normal B+ RV at first glance, yet it is anything but,” said owner and president Phil Rizzio. “In fact, the word ‘normal’ was left out of the Chinook team’s vocabulary—and further observation of the model shows why.”

Chinook RVs

The Chinook brand dates back to 1938, when it was first produced by Sy and Rose Mair in Orange County, California. Their company (initially named Mair & Son, Inc.) had many decades of success until it met its end in 2005 due to the Great Recession. The Chinook brand, acquired in 2013, has since rolled out a number of luxury travel trailers, toy haulers, camper vans, and Class B motorhomes.

The Summit Class B motorhome is a homage to the iconic designs that made the Chinook brand legendary.

“We went through painstaking detail to pay respect to the history and lineage of Chinook while developing the Summit, even going so far as to use the original tooling and molds to craft the front and back cap,” said Jeff Butler, General Manager of Product Production at Chinook RV.

Summit Class B Motorhome Features

The Summit is based on a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter chassis with a 6-cylinder, fuel-efficient diesel engine. The Class B measures 23 feet, 9 inches long. It has a GCWR of 16,030 lbs. and a cargo-carrying capacity of 1,049 lbs.

“The SUMMIT’s unseen structure and subtleties set it apart from any other motorhome on the market,” said Butler. “Just like building a house, we started with a solid foundation.”

Exterior features

This Class B motorhome has a steel substructure, including the sidewalls and roof. This design adds strength, ensures stability and durability, and provides better insulation. In fact, the Summit’s 5” thick, fully-bonded roof, insulated sidewalls, sub-flooring with a thermal and moisture barrier, and dual-pane frameless windows landed it a gold standard certification from Truma as a four-season RV unit. (Truma has specialized in RV and motorhome heating systems and water heaters since 1949.)

An awning extends out to 13 feet to add shade on particularly sunny days and automatically retracts on exceptionally windy days utilizing its nifty wind sensor. Additional powder-coated steel storage boxes are located under the floor.

Interior of Class B Motorhome

The 200-square-foot, 6’3” tall interior boasts high-quality CNC-cut one-piece cabinetry and Infinity Woven vinyl floors with soft-touch vinyl finishes on interior walls and ceiling. Behind the co*ckpit, the living room has facing sofas that open up to create a king-size bed. The galley comes complete with a refrigerator with a dual swing door, a convection microwave, and a portable induction cooktop. The rear bathroom includes a separate shower.

Systems and other extras

Power

If customers aren’t satisfied with the unit’s standard house batteries, they can upgrade to lithium batteries. These offer up to 630 amp-hours of capacity. In addition, a 12V 30-amp power distribution center, 2000-watt Xantrex inverter with charger, 400-watt solar panel capacity, and on-board WiFi make the Summit off-grid ready.

Water

The Summit comes equipped with a highly-rated Truma Combi-Plus heater system with an integrated water heater. It houses a 30-gallon water tank, 24-gallon grey holding tank, and 24-gallon black holding tank. Plus, for added convenience, each holding tank includes tank sprayers for easy maintenance.

“With the water tank and water lines installed inside, you can expect a hot shower even in freezing temperatures,” said Rizzio. “The Summit team also enclosed and insulated the holding tanks, plus added ducted heat, to ensure they can withstand subzero temperatures.”

Upgrades

Customers can splurge on extra amenities. Upgrades include intelligent navigation, a four-camera monitoring system with display, and a Trac-Vision RV1 satellite system.
